This. This right here. Arthur had always been the one to deal with everyones shit. The one who had to sort out and play with the hand he got delt. This part hit me like a train.
He talks about his dead family, his son, mother, wife, even his father that it’s implied he didn’t get along with. We’ve watched him through everything, his anger, his joy. But never his sadness. Before the ending, this is our one true look into Arthur. We see a man who doubts himself. One who even after everything, can’t fathom that he is a good person, because he has done wrong in the past. He is scared to die, because he wants to do more. Right the wrongs and keep fighting.
Arthur Morgan is a amazing character and i adore how throughout the entire game, we see a very rough, to the point, gritty cowboy, but in this moment, he turns into us, the player. We don’t want Arthur to die, we want to carry on. But as the game continues we not only see, but feel the effect Arthur’s illness takes on him.
The way his lips tighten, his eyes well, you see how ill he has become, with red eyes, worn skin, his wrinkles more apparent. He just looks so, so tired.
Arthur Morgan is a great character. Rockstar did well.
